Herniated discs may be identified in a number of ways. We can usually identify a herniated disc based on your history and the results of the physical exam. The gold standard for identifying a disc herniation is an MRI. Dr. Moscow is happy to order an MRI when appropriate.
Dr. Moscow has successfully treated thousands of patients with disc herniations. In fact, disc herniations respond exceptionally well to Dr. Moscow’s treatment.
For patients suffering from a disc herniation a gentle technique- Cox decompression therapy (flexion-distraction) has been shown to be extremely effective in reducing the herniation and restoring normal function. This may be done in conjunction with a variety of other chiropractic manipulative techniques.
Dr. Moscow may also utilize other treatment modalities such as electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound, hot and cold packs, various methods of stretching, massage therapy, exercise and rehabilitation, nutrition counseling or may prescribe a brace or orthotic. We also have a medical doctor on staff that can prescribe medication when needed.
